Rowan weather: Hold on to your hats

We’ll see more sun today, but it’s going to be much cooler and quite windy.

The high should be 48, with west wind at 11-17 mph and gusts as high as 29 mph.

Tonight will be mostly clear and cold, with a low of 25. Northwest wind will be at 6-11 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph.

Thursday will be sunny, windy and cold, too. The high will be 41, and north northwest wind will be at 6-13 mph, with gusts around 22 mph. Thursday night will be clear and cold, with a low of 23. Northwest wind will be just 5-8 mph.

Friday will be sunny and 45, with north wind at 3-8 mph. The low will be 28, with mostly cloudy skies.

Saturday will be cloudy and 40, with a chance of rain and snow before noon, then rain between noon and 5 p.m., then a combination of rain, snow and sleet after 5 p.m. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Saturday night, the chance of precipitation is 80 percent. That means a chance of rain before midnight, a brief period of sleet, then freezing rain after 1 a.m. The low will be 30.

Sunday begins with freezing rain before 9 a.m., followed by rain or freezing rain through 10, then rain after that. It will be cloudy and 38. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Sunday night’s chance of rain and snow is 40 percent, with rain and snow mixed before 11 p.m., the mostly snow through 1 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 30.

Finally, on Monday, we should have partly sunny skies and a high of 39. The low will be 27, with partly cloudy skies.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny and 48.
