Salisbury Symphony Guild

Tickets are still available for “Cocktail Cabaret!”, a Salisbury Symphony Guild fundraiser that will re-create the thrill of Las Vegas in Catawba College’s Crystal Ballroom.

From 7 to 11 p.m. Jan. 12, high-rollers, partiers and lookie-loos alike can cavort in a cabaret casino without leaving town. For the price of a $100 ticket, each player will receive $2,000 in casino play money and two drink tickets.

Food will feature international hors d’oeuvres from Mykonos, Saibaidee and other local restaurants.

The Las Vegas-style casino will offer professional dealers for games of blackjack, craps, roulette and poker. Chips won at the tables can be exchanged for tickets for prizes, including a week in North Myrtle Beach, four nights in a Williamsburg condo, the maestro as your guest for dinner, gift certificates to Salisbury Wine Shop and La Cava restaurant, two tickets to the Waterworks’ Oyster Roast, and an original painting by national award-winning artist James Taylor.

Tickets for a chance to win airfare to Las Vegas and a three-night stay at the Wyndham Desert Blue resort will be $25.

Entertainment in the cabaret will include “dueling pianos” by Steve Stringer and John Stafford and singer Destiny Stone. A recent Catawba College graduate, Destiny has released two albums and presented the “Nina Now” tribute to N.C. native Nina Simone last February. For this performance, Destiny will showcase music of popular female artists, blending gospel, blues, jazz, and soul.

Taylor’s donated painting, “Mirror, Mirror on the Wall,” is a recent oil work. A professional photographer and artist for more than 50 years, Taylor lives in Salisbury.
