A gift guide to wrap up your holiday shopping

SALISBURY — It’s the last weekend for holiday shopping.

Local stores are stocked up and are extending hours for customers getting in some last-minute shopping.

The Concord Police Department has warned drivers to prepare for heavy traffic around Concord Mills with this being the final shopping weekend of the holiday season.

The Salisbury Post compiled a list of some suggestions from shops in Rowan County to help you find the right gift.

Barnhardt Jewelers in Spencer recommends diamond stud earrings, necklaces, Southern Gate jewelry, birthstones and pearls.

The store will be closed Sunday, but open from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Christmas Eve.

Ritchie & Ritchie Home Emporium in China Grove has gift baskets, homemade and crafted items, arm knit products and jewelry.

Is also features products ranging from a few dollars to more as holiday shopping continues, according to the store.

South Main Book Co. in Salisbury has been busy since Nov. 1 with people coming in for gift purchasing. Some recommended books are:

• “The Reckoning” by John Grisham

• “Every Breath” by Nicholas Sparks

• “Kingdom of the Blind” by Louise Penny

• “The Point of It All” by Charles Krauthammer

• “Atlas Obscura” by Joshua Foer

• “The Good Neighbor: The Life and Work of Fred Rogers” by Maxwell King

• “The Library Book” by Susan Orlean

The store also has socks, mugs, T-shirts and puzzles that are book themed.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, noon to 4 p.m. Sunday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.

Stitchin’ Post Gifts in Salisbury recommends Brighton jewelry, the inverted umbrellas, Ronaldo designer jewelry, handcrafted candles, Cheerwine products and shoes, including Toms and Sanuks. The shop will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday.

Employees will be working to restock and talk to customers. The shop will also offer gift wrapping.

Backcountry & Beyond in Salisbury offers Yeti drinkware, including mugs; sauces and rubs; and goods from Black Rifle Coffee, which is a veteran-run company. For bigger items, go for Garmin smart watches and grills. DeWitt Brown nots that although it is the cold season, stand-up paddle boards will be discounted to make room for next year’s models. He said wood-fired grills have been a great gift with customers coming back after Saturday lunch to buy one for their family.

E.H. Montgomery General Store in Gold Hill has an assortment of Amish jams and jellies for a gift basket, miniature musical instruments and original ceramic mugs with musical instruments on them.
