Partners in education

Lila Bostian, president of Rowan Retired School Personnel presented Susan Steele a check for $500 to Rowan Partners for Education in honor of American Education Week.

The money will be used locally to help students and teachers in Rowan-Salisbury Schools.

Rowan Retired School Personnel is the local affiliate of North Carolina Retired School Personnel, a division of NCAE (North Carolina Association of Educators). They work to promote public education and health, benefits and welfare of retirees across the state.

Locally, they provide a yearly scholarship of $1,000 to a graduate of a Rowan-Salisbury high school who is planning on pursuing a career in education. This year, they chose Rowan Partners for Education as the recipient so that the funds would be used locally to benefit teachers and students.
