SALISBURY — Each year, the preschoolers of First United Methodist Church excitedly walk their donations to the lobby of the Salisbury Post offices, and this year was no exception.

The children, numbering 13, bundled up in their Christmas red and green scarves, jackets, hats, reindeer antlers and shoes to deliver the $188.71 they’ve been collecting all November.

The 2-, 3- and 4-year-old classes save during their Penny Harvest, said preschool director and teacher Patsy Langlais.

All of the classes contribute to the collection, and the 4-year-olds deliver the donation.

This year’s total contributions for Christmas Happiness are $335 above last year’s giving on the same day.
“The need is always real,” said Salvation Army Corps Capt. Janice Dahlin.
She said any amount that is collected goes to children in need.
“If we have it, we give it,” she said.

Contributions to the Christmas Happiness Fund may be delivered to the Salisbury Post, 131 W. Innes St., between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays or mailed to Salisbury Post Christmas Happiness Fund, P.O. Box 4639, Salisbury, NC 28145-4639. Please make checks payable to Christmas Happiness and indicate how you want your donation listed.
