Rowan County History Course returns in 2019

SALISBURY — The popular Rowan County History Course will return for 13 weeks in 2019.

The course will be held on Thursdays, usually from 7 to 8:30 p.m., from Feb. 7 through May 9. Classes will meet at various locations, beginning Feb. 7 at the Rowan Museum, 202 N. Main St.

Sponsored jointly by Historic Salisbury Foundation Inc. and Rowan Museum, the course includes local history connected to Native Americans, early pioneers, the Revolutionary War, Civil War, industrialization and other periods to the present day.

The basic text is “Rowan County, A Brief History” by the late James S. Brawley. It is available at the Rowan Public Library or on CD at the class for $10.

The registration fee for the class is $25 for current members of Historic Salisbury Foundation or Rowan Museum. Newcomers to the community (in the past 12 months) can take the course for $20. The fee for the general public is $30 per person.
