Salisbury boys lose
GASTONIA — Nothing fell for the Salisbury boys on Monday in a 67-54 loss at Gastonia Hunter Huss.
The Hornets scored only four points in the first quarter and never fully recovered. They had 17 at halftime.
“Probably the worst shooting night we’ve had since I’ve been here,” Salisbury coach Bryan Withers said. “We missed 14 layups, missed 24 shots in the paint. We shot 1-for-9 on 3-pointers and made only half of our free throws. We got good looks, but we just couldn’t get anything to fall, and then we lost some confidence. Looking at my team at halftime, I could see we’d lost some confidence.”
Latavian White and Jabril Norman were the Hornets that played the best.
“Latavian gave us a spark, and Jabril played a solid game,” Withers said.
Withers was impressed with Huss (2-0).
“They’ll win a lot of games if they play like that,”
he said. “Their bigs weren’t just tall, they were long.”
Salisbury (1-1) has a chance to bounce back tonight at home against West Davidson.
