SALISBURY — Do you have plans tomorrow morning? Would you like to support local youth who are exhibiting some of their favorite recipes?

Come join us at the annual Rowan County 4-H Food Show for youth ages 5-18. This event will be held at the Rowan County Cooperative Extension Center on Saturday, Dec. 1. Youth will arrive at 10 a.m. to decorate their tables and showcase their delicious recipes.

Official judging will start between 10:45 and 11 a.m. There will also be a “People’s Choice” Award this year. We invite you to come taste test each recipe and cast your vote for your favorite.

This year’s theme is Crockpot Recipes. Youth are competing in Cloverbud, Junior and Senior age divisions and could enter one of the following categories: dips, soups/stews, entrees, sides, desserts.

4-H offers youth many opportunities, several of which involve cooking and presenting. We have 4-H clubs that cover cooking concepts during their meetings and 4-H competitions like Project Record Books and Presentations that can be related to food.

If you are interested in learning more about 4-H opportunities for youth, contact Laura Allen, 4-H agent, at 704-216-8970 or laura_allen@ncsu.edu.

We hope to see you at the 4-H Food Show tomorrow!
