Staff report

A rash of residential and business break-ins in a general area around Peeler and Old Concord roads has led to four suspects being charged.

Three of the four men have been arrested. A fourth, Jonathan Murray, 38, of Duke Drive, is still at large.

In October, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigative Division began investigating a residential break-in on Duke Drive in Salisbury.

Over the course of the next month, break-ins also occurred at a used-car dealership and repair shop business in Correll Park and six residences.

The home break-ins occurred on Duke Drive, Ted Lane, Garden Lane and Peeler Road, as well as the maintenance shop at Southeast Middle School on Peeler Road.

Charged are Eric Clawson, 40, of Duke Drive; Tyson Gaymon, 31, of Hawkinstown Road; Joshua Cook, 30, of Birchwood Drive; and Murray.

Search warrants were executed at residences on Duke Drive and West Park Drive in Rockwell, and stolen property was recovered at both of those locations.

A car stolen from the shop in Correll Park also was recovered on Gold Hill Drive in Salisbury.

The recovered property has been returned to the owners.

The four suspects have been charged with several counts of breaking, entering and larceny as well as possession of stolen property.

Clawson was placed in jail under a $21,800 secured bond; Gaymon, under a $20,000 secured bond; and Cook, under a $2,000 secured bond.

Murray is currently wanted by the Sheriff’s Office for possession of stolen property.

This investigation continues and anyone with information about this case or the location of Murray is being asked to contact Lt. Chad Moose at 704-216-8687 or Detective Nate Phillips at 704-216-8700.
