Catawba College students participate, win awards at statewide vocal event

Catawba College music and theater arts voice students participated in the North Carolina National Association of Teachers of Singing auditions at Meredith College in Raleigh on Nov. 2.

More than 140 students from across the state participated in the auditions, which offer students the opportunity to win awards and gather feedback from adjudicators.

Senior popular music major Reshaud Brown won first place in the men’s Contemporary Commercial Music category. Dustin Chapman and Tristan Bland were awarded second and third place, respectively, in the same category.

Lisette Rodriguez placed third in the women’s Contemporary Commercial Music category. Jessica Yates earned regional qualification in the women’s Third Year Musical Theatre category.

Other Catawba students participating in the auditions were Rachael Allen, Delphia Borden, Alana Cooper, Jillian Dunn, Destiny Hunter, Alison Larson, Lisette Rodriguez, Nicky Vasello, Amber Wright, Grace Yacobowsky, Nunna Noe, Elizabeth Lackey and Sarah Rasey.

Jacob Hahn and Susan Trivette were pianists for the students.
