Two men charged with involvement in selling stolen golf carts

SALISBURY — Two local men are charged with stealing and selling golf carts from a South Main Street business.

On Nov. 12, the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office began investigating a breaking and entering at Custom Golf Carts. The owner said the business had been broken into by someone who cut a hole through metal siding. Several thousand dollars worth of tools and batteries were reported stolen.

Sheriff’s detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division were told that someone would be trying to sell some of the stolen property at a business in Salisbury.

Detectives said 39-year-old Timothy Carlee Fox Jr. of Kannapolis was trying to sell stolen property from Custom Golf Carts.

When Fox was arrested on the theft charges, detectives found he was in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

Fox was charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses; felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia other than marijuana. Fox was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $3,000 secured bond.

Detectives also searched the property of Michael Wayne Horne, 36, of Salisbury. They seized additional items that were taken from Custom Golf Carts, as well as drug paraphernalia and tools used to forcibly enter buildings that included a pry tool, saws and bolt cutters.

Horne was charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny; felony possession of burglary tools; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Horne is being held under a $15,000 secured bond.
