RALEIGH – Terry Gladden of Salisbury is celebrating after he won a $1 million lottery prize.

His good fortune happened when he stopped by Fast Stop on Andrews Street in Salisbury and bought a $10 Million Colossal Cash scratch-off ticket.

Gladden claimed the prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh. He had the choice of taking an annuity with 20 payments of $50,000 a year or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum. After state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $423,015.

The $30 ticket launched in August with four top prizes of $10 million and 16 prizes of $1 million. All top prizes and 13 $1 million prizes remain. Players can also enter their tickets into one of five second-chance drawings for a $1 million prize.

Ticket sales from games like Colossal Cash help the lottery raise more than $650 million a year for education. For details on how lottery funds are making a difference in North Carolina’s 100 counties, click on the “Impact” section of the lottery’s website, https://www.nclottery.com.
