The writer is responding to a Sunday column, “Congress must take action to defend the rule of law.”

Steve and Cokie Roberts are so right that the rule of law and the Mueller investigation must be protected. They lay out the entire process so well. And the obstacles that Mitch McConnell and other Republicans continue to put in the way of needed protections raise additional flags. In what ways are these players involved in the things being investigated? If there is no collusion by anyone, why are they objecting? The indictments already brought by the Mueller investigation show there is more to come.

We, the citizens of the USA, need and deserve elections free of interference from other countries and not encumbered by either party in their methods of voter suppression, including a permanent end to gerrymandering.

This democratic republic of ours is not guaranteed, and, in this moment in time, is in great danger. The rule of law must be protected, and a Mueller investigation completion is essential.
