Salisbury man charged with marijuana possession following traffic stop

SALISBURY — A Salisbury man faces felony marijuana charges after he was stopped for an expired vehicle registration.

An officer found marijuana on the passenger’s seat of his car, according to the Police Department.

Michael Ray Person, 32, of the 500 block of Mulberry Lane, was charged with felony manufacturing a controlled substance Schedule VI; felony maintaining a dwelling or vehicle for a controlled substance; felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell or deliver a controlled substance Schedule VI; simple possession of marijuana; and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police officials said when the officer stopped the vehicle, he saw a green substance on the seat that was determined to be marijuana. Person was arrested, and the vehicle was searched.

The officer found an AR-15 American Tactical rifle in the trunk.

The officer also found less than a gram of hashish, a drug made from cannabis, in the vehicle, as well as two glass jars with 25 grams of marijuana and marijuana seeds in them.
