Letter: Clarification on mayoral election comment

Published 12:48 am Wednesday, October 24, 2018

The writer is responding to a story in the Oct. 18 Post, “Committee gets public’s input on city elections.”

I want to clarify that I am keeping my opinions out of the election committee process. My statements covered in the Oct. 18 article reported that I said a separate mayoral race would build confidence, which implied that was my opinion.

I was only clarifying a citizen’s comment and repeating back in an example so we could gather the correct information.

I am in no way advocating for or against a separate mayoral election. My role in co-chairing this committee is to gather input from citizens.

The mayor pro tem and I will announce a date soon for the next meeting.

I encourage citizens to attend a meeting or reach out to me or David Post and share your perspective. Thanks again to everyone who attended to be part of the process.
