High school girls golf: East ties for 10th

SOUTHERN PINES — East Rowan tied for 10th in the girls golf 3A state championships held at par-72 Longleaf.

As a team, East shot 295-305 — 600.

Carmen Fraley led the Mustangs in her final match, shooting 91 on Tuesday to go with Monday’s 94.

Fraley shot 45 on the back nine, and then 46 on the front side. She made a birdie on the par-5 No. 16 hole on Tuesday and had three pars.

Camryn Corriher, another East senior, shot 98 on Tuesday after a 96 on Monday. Corriher birdied the par-5 No. 5 hole  Tuesday and made two pars. She made an 11 on her next-to-last hole, but came strong to finish with a bogey.

East senior Hailey Fesperman shot 116 on Tuesday after shooting 105 on Monday.

Fraley tied for 38th. Corriher tied for 51st. Fesperman was 73rd.

Carson’s Sophia Brown shot 106 on Tuesday after a 113 on Monday. She finished 70th.

Rockingham County finished at 493 to win the team championship. Northern Guilford and first-round leader Cox Mill tied for second at 506.

Asheville’s Ana Tsiros shot 70-74 — 144 to win the individual championship by four strokes.
