Letter: An inconvenient fee
Published 7:18 pm Monday, October 22, 2018
It’s absolutely absurd that Duke Energy charges a residential customer $1.50 above and beyond their bill as a “convenience fee” to pay their bill. Heck, I’m going to start paying by check and let them have the hassle of cashing it and processing the paper to pay the bill.
I was under the “millennial” impression that debit card payments were supposed to save trees and fossil fuel and time and save businesses money. I guess not in Duke’s case. If there was another power company, I’d switch in a second. Why not just be honest and tell folks they are plainly increasing everyone’s bill by $1.50? Maybe this is one of those tax-but-not -tax things the Public Service Commission should look into.
