North Piedmont Conference Tournament champ Carson received the No. 3 seed in the 3A West bracket as volleyball playoff pairings were released by the NCHSAA on Monday afternoon.

Playoff action is scheduled for Tuesday.

The Cougars (23-3) are home against No. 30 Monroe Piedmont in the first round. Carson is 11-1 at home.

Waxhaw Marvin Ridge is seeded No. 1 in the bracket, while West Henderson is No. 2.

Unbeaten at home, West Rowan, which shared the NPC regular-season title with Carson, is the No. 8 seed and will be home against No. 25 Waynesville Tuscola.

NPC teams (16) South Iredell (18-7) and (17) North Iredell (12-6) will square off in Troutman in a first-round matchup.

Statesville (11-18) is seeded 23rd and goes to No. 10 Charlotte Catholic.

East Rowan (5-16) is a surprise team in the bracket. Seeded 32nd in a 32-team bracket, the Mustangs will make the long trip to top-seeded Marvin Ridge.

Carson is ranked fourth in the state in 3A by MaxPreps, while West Rowan (17-4) is ranked fifth. Marvin Ridge is ranked as the No. 1 team in the state for all classifications.

In the 2A West bracket, South Rowan (21-5) is the No. 12 seed and is home in the first round against No. 21 Lake Norman Charter.

West Davidson (21-6), which beat South in the Central Carolina Conference Tournament championship game, is seeded fourth and hosts CCC rival (29) North Davidson.

Ledford (19-3), which shared the regular-season title in the CCC with South Rowan and West Davidson, is the No. 17 seed and goes to (16) East Gaston.

East Davidson was placed in the 2A East bracket as a No. 28 seed and plays at No. 5 Wheatmore.

In the 4A West bracket, Davie County’s Central Piedmont Conference champs (21-2) received the No. 1 seed and will enjoy a first-round bye.

Notable teams that also received byes include (5) Hickory Ridge and (8) Reagan.

(17) West Forsyth and (18) East Forsyth are in the playoffs, along with (20) Mooresville.
