SALISBURY — For the fourth year, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation is teaming up with city and county offices, businesses and residents in Rowan County to “Paint the Town Pink” with pink ribbons during October for breast cancer awareness.

Pink ribbons can be purchased in memory or honor of a loved one. Ribbons are $1 each.

Over the past three years, the Novant foundation has raised more than $3,500 to support breast health.

Throughout October, the foundation has been spreading awareness — and the color pink.

The hope is that the ribbons sold will be taped to storefronts, walls and other spaces for the month of October. Each ribbon has a space where the purchaser can write his or her name or honor or memorialize a loved one.

All money raised will stay in the Salisbury-Rowan community. Over the past three years, the fundraiser has helped Rowan Medical Center Foundation purchase the first 3D mammography scanner for the breast center on Julian Road.

Last year, all money raised went to the foundation’s Breast Health Fund, which covers the cost of screening mammograms, diagnostic mammograms and ultrasounds for women who are uninsured or underinsured. This year, all money will go to the Breast Health Fund.

Any business that wants to participate should contact Kristen Trexler at 704-210-5638 or krtrexler@novanthealth.org.
