SALISBURY — The 43rd OctoberTour will connect Salisbury and neighboring Spencer, a change from previous years.

Sponsored by the Historic Salisbury Foundation, the weekend tour will offer visits to homes, ending at Library Park in Spencer.

“This year, we decided to take a different approach,” said Taylor Sexton, October Tour chairwoman.

Participants can hop on the trolley at Salisbury Station and ride around to homes in Salisbury and Spencer and the N.C. Transportation Museum. At Library Park, there will be food, drink and activities for the whole family.

Homes included on OctoberTour are:

• 1910 J.K. Dorsett House, 301 Fourth St., Spencer

• 1913 McFee House, 509 South Carolina Avenue, Spencer

• 1909 Eagle-Burdette House, 409 Fourth Street, Spencer

• 1925 Snider-Floyd House, 505 Seventh St., Spencer

• 1926 F.N. McCubbins House, 1013 N. Main St., Salisbury

• 1910 Davis-Wilhelm-Daniel House, 910 N. Main St., Salisbury

• 1858 Kluttz Drug Store third-floor apartment, 101 N. Main St., Salisbury

• 1873 Hedrick Block Building apartment, 101 S. Main St., Salisbury

At the Transportation Museum, two railcars will be on display with exclusive insights on the tour.

On Saturday, the conclusion of the tour at Library Park will include food trucks, vendors, drinks from New Sarum Brewing and Morgan Ridge Railwalk Brewery, music, dance, and rides on an antique firetruck. This part is free and open to the public.

OctoberTour hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday. The tour is $25 for advance tickets. Tickets are $30 on tour days and can be purchased at Salisbury Station.

Sexton said there are still tickets available for the OctoberTour luncheon Friday. Gary Freeze, a history professor at Catawba College, will speak on “Town, Trains, & Transition — 1839-1913,” describing the connection between Salisbury and Spencer.

The lunch is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and is $50. It includes a meal and wine.
