The ninth “Faces of Trinity Living” portrait exhibit will open Oct. 3 at Waterworks Visual Arts Center with a public reception from 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 18. The exhibit includes 17 portraits created by 14 local artists.
The Faces exhibit began in 2006 when Barbara Garwood, the director of Abundant Living (now Trinity Living Center), came up with the idea of sharing the faces of the participants to shine a spotlight on what the center does. An artist herself, Garwood recruited other local artists to donate portraits of the participants of the center, which offers adult day services.
The exhibit has continued, although it is now held every other year instead of annually.

“We are always so pleased with how the artists do such an incredible job capturing the spirits and personalities of our participants,” said Christina Joyce, executive director of Trinity Living Center. “And we are so happy that through the generosity of the artists, the participants and their families will have these portraits to treasure for generations to come.”
The exhibit will be accompanied by a short bio of each subject, reminding viewers to look beyond the surface and realize the rich lives these people have led over the years.
Artists include Jenny Booe, Keyth Kahrs, Patty Messick, Patt Legg, Mark Brincefield, Michelle Cook, Chuck Whitley, Douglas Lail, Madison Reber, Randall Kane, Phyllis Steimel, Don Moore, Cindy Chandler, and Marietta Foster Smith.
