SALISBURY — A third person involved in an August double murder at Town Creek Park has been arrested in Pitt County, the Salisbury Police Department says.

Willie Earl Williams Jr., 33, was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of murder in the shooting deaths of Sabrina Annette Curzi, 40, and her boyfriend, Darryl Allen Wright, 34.

Salisbury police officials said at 12:20 p.m. Wednesday, officers with the Greenville Police Department and agents of the State Bureau of Investigation’s Fugitive Task Force arrested Williams at 3941 S. Charles Blvd. in Greenville.

Williams had been wanted since the Aug. 3 shooting.

Williams was arrested without incident and is being held in the Pitt County jail.

Two other men — Eugene William Black, 24, and Ronald Earl Powers, 32 — are charged with common law robbery in connection with the shooting. Powers faces an additional charge of assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

In addition, Black has been charged with larceny in a Guilford County case.

Both men remain in the Rowan County Detention Center.

Police said the shooting occurred during what appeared to be a picnic at a gazebo at Town Creek Park. Witnesses said the three men left the scene after the shooting in a dark, midsize car.

The felony common law robbery and assault charges against Black and Powers are in connection with the theft of a $100 cellphone and the beating of Michael Curzi, the son of the late Sabrina Curzi, at the park before the shooting.

According to arrest warrants, Black and Powers hit Michael Curzi on the head and shoulders with glass bottles and punched and kicked him repeatedly around the torso.

Curzi received a cut to the right side of his head, a cut to one shoulder and bruising of his torso.

According to the N.C. Department of Public Safety, Willie Williams is on probation for a 2017 conviction for conspiracy to assault with a dangerous weapon inflicting serious injury. He also has previous convictions for robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony breaking and entering, misdemeanor breaking and entering, and other offenses.

Black has previous convictions for carrying a concealed weapon.

Powers has previous convictions for misdemeanor marijuana possession, felony possession of a controlled substance, selling a controlled substance and other felony offenses.
