Staff report

CONCORD – Central Cabarrus stayed undefeated on Friday, battering Carson, 43-6.

Carson’s points came on a Justin Smith-to-A.J. Jackson pass play in the fourth quarter. It was the third TD reception of the season for Jackson.

It was homecoming for the resurgent Vikings (5-0), who have creamed their opponents collectively, 185-25.

Off last week, Central hadn’t played since pounding East Rowan on the road on Sept. 7, but there was no sign of rust. The Vikings led the Cougars, 24-0 at halftime.

Central continued to display a relentless and balanced offense. Evan McGee threw for 206 yards and four TDs. Chandler Rivers had two TD catches. KeShawn Harvey rushed for 165 yards.

Central scored on defense in the closing seconds when Jasaan Rodgers-Freeman intercepted a pass and returned it 90 yards.

After a difficult stretch that has included four straight losses  to A.L. Brown, North Rowan, Davie County and Central, Carson (2-4) will start North Piedmont Conference play at home next week against North Iredell. Central will complete the non-conference portion of its campaign with a game against Forest Hills in Marshville.
