Letter: Unfair pricing

Published 8:34 am Wednesday, September 12, 2018

I never thought a local grocery store would be guilty of predatory practices, but I guess I was wrong. Monday I went in to get the pre-storm obligatory items such as milk, bread and water. As I walked in the store, there was a large stack of DeerPark 24 packs of water bottles. This was clearly being featured, but there was no price. I picked up a case and continued shopping. When I got to the back of the store I saw that Nestles water was on sale for $2.89. I got a case of that and went to the water section and discovered the DeerPark water was over $5 a case. Needless to say, I put back the DeerPark.

When checking out, I went to the Customer Service desk and told the manager that I was shocked that they were doing this and thought it was beneath them to do this. I got no reaction, explanation or apology. Shame on you. I really thought you were better than this.
