Letter: Bravo to the ‘Bury’s best

As Ed Sullivan would surely say, “What a great shew”! I am, of course, speaking of the radio-style variety show, “A ’Bury Home Companion” which I attended on Saturday afternoon at the Meroney Theater in downtown Salisbury. As a 74-year-old resident and native of Salisbury and Rowan County, I could not have been more proud of all the wonderful local talent that was presented and performed at this exceptionally entertaining production.

I would like to give a shout out of special recognition and praise to Kent Bernhardt and music director, Kay Peeler. Being a writer myself, I recognize and appreciate all the hard work and the creativity these two so graciously originated and shared with their ensemble as well as an openly receptive audience.

The musicians of each genre were outstanding, professional and very heart warming. I especially enjoyed the skits and product ads that I could well relate to because of being a devoted radio show listener in my early life.

Many thanks and congratulations to all the sponsors and participants for a most delightful and memorable experience!
