CHARLOTTE — U.S. Rep. Ted Budd and another Republican congressional candidate say President Donald Trump is coming to Charlotte to help them raise money for fall campaigns against well-funded opponents.

Budd and GOP nominee Mark Harris said Friday that Trump is scheduled to attend an Aug. 31 luncheon in Charlotte.

The invitation lists donation levels from $1,000 to $25,000 per person. Money also will go to state and national Republican committees.

Budd is a first-term congressman representing the 13th District covering parts of Rowan County, Iredell County and Greensboro. He is facing Democrat Kathy Manning of Greensboro in the November election.

Harris upset Rep. Robert Pittenger in the May GOP primary for the 9th District, spanning parts of Charlotte, east along the South Carolina border and toward Fort Bragg. Dan McCready is Harris’ Democratic opponent.
