Hood Theological Seminary

SALISBURY — Rev. Dr. Regina Dancy, chief financial officer and director of human resources at Hood Theological Seminary, was elected to the Audit Committee of the Commission on Accrediting at the June centennial biennial meeting of the Association of Theological Schools.

The five-member audit committee, which serves both the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools (COA), is comprised of the ATS Treasurer, the COA Treasurer and three at-large chief fiscal officers of member schools.

The bylaws of both associations state that “the Audit Committee members shall be persons knowledgeable about financial matters, a majority of whom shall be independent.”

The committee makes recommendations to the board regarding the selection of the association’s auditors, oversees the auditor’s activities, sets rules and processes for addressing complaints concerning accounting and internal control problems and assumes such other responsibilities as may be appropriate for an audit committee.

Dancy received a bachelors degree in business management from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a masters of divinity and doctor of ministry from Hood Theological Seminary. She has served as chief fiscal officer and director of human resources at Hood since 2005. Prior to that, she was an administrative assistant at the school.

She is an ordained Baptist minister and served as pastor of New Life in Christ Ministry in Salisbury from 2006 to 2010 and as associate minister of First Baptist Church in Kannapolis from 2011 to 2016.

An active civic leader in the community, Dr. Dancy is a member of Women for Community Justice, a Commissioner of Truth Healing Hope Equity and a member of the Salisbury chapter of the NAACP.

Other members of the audit committee are Jacqueline Ballou, vice president finance and operations at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA; Karen Getz, dean of administration and director of accounting at Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA; Todd Lajiness, rector-president at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in Detroit, MI and Heather Zdancewicz, vice president for administration and finance at Austin Presbyterian Seminary in Austin, TX.
