Rowan weather: More storms likely

We got some of the predicted strong thunderstorms last night, and we may be in for more today and tonight.

Today, we have a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. It will be mostly cloudy and 85, with light south wind becoming south southwest at 6-11 mph. Winds could gust up to 18 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, except for higher amounts in thunderstorms.

Some of the storms could contain damaging winds and hail, as well as frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

Tonight’s chance of showers and storms is 60 percent, with most of the storms between 9 p.m. and 4 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 70, with south southwest wind at 6-9 mph. Some of these storms could also become severe, although less than a tenth of an inch of rainfall is expected.

Wednesday will start with patchy fog, then become mostly sunny and 85, with west northwest wind at 3-7 mph. A 20 percent chance of showers is possible, with thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy and 62, with north wind around 6 mph.

Thursday will be sunny and just 80 degrees with north northeast wind at 6-8 mph. Thursday night will be clear and cool, with a low of 58.

Friday should be sunny and 82, another great day. The low will be 62, with mostly clear skies.

Saturday will be mostly sunny and 83, with a low of 65 and partly cloudy skies.

Sunday will be mostly sunny and 86. The low will be 68, with partly cloudy skies.

And Monday should be mostly sunny and 88.
