Courthouse Annex parking area out of service from Aug. 10 – 12

CONCORD — Preliminary work toward a new courthouse will cause the temporary closing this weekend of a downtown parking lot that serves Cabarrus County’s Courthouse Annex on Church Street between Corban and Means avenues.

The gated lot, typically open on the weekends, will be closed from 5 p.m. today through Sunday.

The closure is associated with testing related to the construction of a new downtown courthouse. The county recently selected Messer Construction and Liles Construction as the construction manager at-risk for the project, which is still in its early planning stages.

The county is also continuing construction of a new 614-spot downtown parking deck on the corner of Corban Avenue SW at Spring Street SW across from the courthouse.

Parking deck construction is expected to last through March 2019. Courthouse visitors are encouraged to park in the county’s surface parking lot 2 next to Fifth Third Bank between Church Street and McCachern Boulevard.
