Rowan County United Way has invited 16 community leaders to serve on its 2018-2019 cabinet. The cabinet members will work alongside John Struzick, this year’s campaign chair.

Struzick is providing the general direction for the fall fundraising campaign, with cabinet leaders in charge of divisions and recruiting teams. Together, they will establish goals for their divisions and assist in the operation of the overall United Way campaign.

Leaders tapped for the campaign cabinet include: Michelle Patterson, Patterson Farm (Public Relations Chair); Joan Correll and Jennifer Traylor, Akzo Nobel (Presidents); Jim Behmer, Salisbury-Rowan Utilities (Chairman); Jordan Littauer, Vulcan (Industrial 1); Greg Anderson, Salisbury Post (Industrial 2); Mark Lewis, Peoples Bank (Commercial 1); Rhonda Martin, F&M Bank (Commercial 2); Bonnie Vanderelst, Wells Fargo (Commercial 3); Bob Parnell, Salisbury Fire Department, and Jerry Stokes, Salisbury Police Department (Public Employees); Andrew Smith, Rowan-Salisbury Schools (Education); Seth Waller, Falcon Investments (Community Business); Ed Norvell, Attorney (Special Gifts); David Post, David Post Law, and Ted Goins, Lutheran Services Carolinas (Professionals); John Struzick, Innospec, and Jackie Harris, United Way (CEO Cultivation); and Ted Goins, Ed Norvell and David Post (Leadership Giving).

“We have a strong United Way in Rowan County, serving as the backbone of our area’s health and human services funding,” said Salisbury Post publisher and cabinet member Greg Anderson. “Giving time and effort to United Way helps our community, and that is reward enough for me. Let’s all make this year’s campaign a great success.”

Andrew Smith, chief strategy officer for Rowan-Salisbury Schools, said he has witnessed the impact United Way agencies have on local children in many dimensions of their lives. “When I was approached to serve on the cabinet of the United Way, I was honored and couldn’t think of a better way to continue to support the community and students of Rowan County,” Smith said.

Struzick praised the collective leadership and passion the cabinet members bring to the campaign: “Their strength and commitment to the Rowan County United Way and its mission will help ensure the success of our fundraising and the United Way’s ability to continue making a difference in the lives of the people of Rowan County.”

Since 1956, Rowan County United Way has supported human service agencies by organizing and facilitating annual fundraising events. Rowan County United Way currently serves agencies including Rowan County Literacy Council, The Arc/Rowan, Rowan Vocational Opportunities, Boy Scouts (Central N.C. Council), Communities in Schools of Rowan County, Rowan County YMCA, Rowan County Youth Services Bureau, American Red Cross, Rowan County Rescue Squad, The Salvation Army, Trinity Living Center, Rufty-Holmes Senior Center, Families First, Inc., Family Crisis Council and Smart Start Rowan. In addition, United Way serves two partner agencies, Jobs for Life and Capstone Recovery Center.
