GRANITE QUARRY — The Granite Quarry Colored/Shuford Memorial School Reunion Committee will meet Monday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m. at the Geneva Oglesby Community Center.

KANNAPOLIS — At the August Kannapolis History Associates meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6, learn how the hall of Fame came about, who started it, who are current members and which members, teams and coaches are from Kannapolis; also who is eligible to become a member. Presented by Harry Mills, Grey Clarke and Dane Laney.

Salisbury Symphony auditions
The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for Section Strings and any others who want to be on the orchestra’s substitute list.
In particular violinists and violists who would be interested in some playing are encouraged to audition.
Music Director David Hagy will hear auditions on Sept. 8. Auditions will take place in the Williams Music Building on the campus of Catawba College. Auditionees will be asked to play a prepared piece of their choice, excerpts of the music director’s choice, and sight-reading.

Salisbury Symphony Chorale auditions
The Salisbury Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for new members and section leaders of the Salisbury Symphony Chorale on Tuesday, Aug. 14.
Auditions will be held at the First United Methodist Church and accompanied by FUMC organist Matthew Michael Brown. Auditions will be heard by Brown and Symphony director David Hagy as well as one or two other choral leaders of Salisbury.
Those interested in auditioning should preferably prepare a piece to sing for the judges, but may come only to be vocalized by the judges.
