Novant Health Rowan Medical Center has expanded to include hospice care.

“In an effort to meet the needs of our community, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center is now providing remarkable end-of-life care to our community,” Novant Health said in a news release.

“As a world-class leader in health care, Novant Health strives to meet our patients where they are — when they need us. Our goal is to add the most value to every single day, ensuring that our patients and their loved ones are treated with dignity, respect and compassion throughout their health care journey, including end-of-life.”

Novant said hospice services will be provided wherever patients call home, “including  our community, long-term care facilities, Novant Health Rowan Medical Center and our Glenn A. Kiser Hospice House.”

“With a shift from curative to comfort care,” the release continued, “Novant Health Hospice will provide physical, emotional and spiritual support to patients and their loved ones, ensuring that they can focus on what really matters most.”

A Novant Health Rowan Hospice advisory board of 10 community leaders will provide oversight and support for hospice operations.

Members of the local board include Dr. Neil Patel, Dr. Robert Fazia, Dr. Chetan Amin, Dr. William Brinkley, Mary Ponds, Teresa Dakins, Mary Goodman, Tracy Smith, Kelly Cummings and Libby Gish.
