Today: Fa So La Singing
CLEVELAND — From 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Old Providence Presbyterian Church, South River Church Road.
Old Folks Singing, also known as Fa So La Singing or Shape Note Singing is a tradition of more than 100 years.
Hymn leader Jon McCachren usually leads a 10 minute lesson on the history of this style of singing, which is a dying art. Guests may call out their favorite requests. A picnic lunch is from noon-1 p.m. Host pastor is Steve Hannah.

Today: 100 Men In Black Attire
SPENCER — Jerusalem Baptist Church will host The Youth 4 Christ 100 Men In Black Attire Choir Gospel Concert today at 5 p.m. 1570 N. Long St. on the theme “Jesus is the best thing that ever happen to me.” Concert proceeds support Youth 4 Christ. This year we will be honoring Rev. Clary L. Phelps, George Trueblood and Sharron Foxx. Soloists for the concert are Joe Smith, Odell Gillion, Keith Holland, Eric Holland, Rev. Patrick Tate, George Heggins, Donald Sturdivant, Kenny Abel, Jalen Walker, Reggie Weeks Jr., Kelly Brooks and Carlton Killian. Guest directors are Eddie Brown, Emory Susong, Rev. Patrick Tate and Jamaine Smith. Milton Griffith is founder and director of the Youth 4 100 Men In Black Attire Choir. Host pastor is Dr. Rev. David L. Bracken.

Today only: Cedar Grove choir anniversary
CLEVELAND — Cedar Grove Gospel Choir’s 61st anniversary service is today only, beginning at 6 p.m. at Cedar Grove AME Zion Church. Chris Sherrill, associate minister at Shiloh Baptist Church, Concord will bring the message. In- and out-of-town groups will participate. Rev. Dr. Bertha E. Pittman is host pastor.

John Calvin guest speaker

ROCKWELL — Bluegrass gospel group Strings of Victory will be in concert at Lyerly Evangelical Church, 1320 Crescent Road on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. There is no charge, but a love offering will be taken for the group. Pastor W. C. Gaither Jr. is guest pastor.

Homecoming at Salisbury Macedonia Missionary
Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church Salisbury will celebrate homecoming on Sunday with Rev. Arthur Heggins speaking at 11 a.m. and Rev. Nilous Avery of Mt. Zion Baptist Church at 3 p.m. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.
