SALISBURY — Salisbury police charged a local teenager with possession of a stolen vehicle after an officer pulled up behind him and discovered the car did not belong to him.

Sincere Jaivon Houston, 16, of the 300 block of Lloyd Street, faces felony charges.

Police say the owner of the vehicle reported it stolen on Thursday.

The teen and another person were spotted in the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt near the 200 block of South West and West Bank streets on Friday evening. An officer stopped the car at the intersection and determined it was reported stolen.

Two people ran from the car, leaving it still running.

The vehicle collided with a fence near Livingstone College. A Salisbury Police Department detective ran after one suspect, who was apprehended.

The suspect was identified as Sincere Houston. Police officials say the other suspect was not found.

Houston has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
