The Rowan Republican Women will host a “Meet the Candidates Picnic” on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

It will be held in Shelter No. 6 at Dan Nicholas Park, 6800 Bringle Ferry Road, Salisbury, with a menu of hot dogs, chips, cookies and drinks.

The picnic will offer opportunity for the public to meet Republican candidates running for local and state-wide offices, as well as candidates for North Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals Judges.

Candidates will be available to speak about current issues, as well as answer questions from the public.

Republican candidates on Rowan County ballots this year include:

  • Richard Hudson for U.S. House of Representatives in District 8
  • Tedd Budd for U.S. House of Representatives in District 13
  • Carl Ford for N.C. State Senate in District 33
  • Harry Warren for N.C. House of Representatives in District 76
  • Julia Craven Howard for N.C. House of Representatives in District 77

  • Barbara Ann Jackson for N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice Seat 1

  • Greg Edds for Rowan County commissioner
  • Judy Klusman for Rowan County commissioner
  • Jim Greene for Rowan County commissioner
  • John Brindle for Rowan County Register of Deeds
  • Kevin Auten for Rowan County Sheriff

Christopher James Anglin, who is campaigning as a Republican for the N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice Seat 1, will not have his party listed on the November ballot.

This comes following the recent special session held by the General Assembly, in which legislators passed a bill establishing a 90-day limit for judicial candidates changing party affiliation.

Anglin was registered as a Democrat until June of this year.
