Letter: Shop local, including for roof

Published 12:00 am Sunday, July 29, 2018

In 2009 I needed a new roof. Local businesses did not return my call. Not wanting to do personal business from work, I called an out-of-town company one night and they answered. They put a 26-gauge steel roof on my house for $36,000. That included a lifetime warranty. The roof has leaked so much that my 90-year-old- momma’s ceiling is falling down. This slow leak has been going on since 2010. When I contacted the company, they said they guaranteed the life of the tile, not that it would protect my house for my lifetime.

As it is raining so hard today, and as more of the ceiling is falling on the floor (not over Momma’s bed, yet), I desperately need my roof. And  I desperately need a local company to do it.
