KANNAPOLIS —  Yosmer Solorzano allowed just one hit over five innings, and Jhoan Quijada was also effective on the mound, as the Kannapolis Intimidators shut down the Delmarva Shorebirds in a 6-0 win on Sunday.

The Intimidators’ staff recorded its eighth shutout of the year.

First-round draft pick Nick Madrigal didn’t play for Kannapolis on Sunday but the No. 4 overall pick out of Oregon State has had a fine start to his pro career.

Not a lot of power in his first 10 games with Kannapolis (no homers, three doubles), but plenty of contact. Madrigal is batting a sizzling .389.

In 37 trips to the plate for the Intimidators, the 21-year-old shortstop has walked only once and has yet to strike out.
