Police say pedestrian struck on Jake Alexander Boulevard in critical condition

SALISBURY — A man is in critical condition after being struck by a pickup Tuesday morning on West Jake Alexander Boulevard, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

The man was walking in the middle of the road near Woodleaf Lanes about 5 a.m. He was hit by a Dodge Dakota truck.

The man is believed to be in his 30s and was wearing dark-colored clothes.

The boulevard was closed while police investigated the crash.

Police said the man was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where he remains.

Police are trying to contact the victim’s nearest relative.
