  7 p.m. Tuesday June 19: David Lamanno will discuss using and identifying old photographs for use in Genealogical research. Meet at Rowan Public Library, 201 W. Fisher St. All are welcome.

Historic J.C. Price High School National Alumni Association celebrates anniversary

The historic J.C. Price High School National Alumni Association will celebrate 32 years on Friday and Saturday, June 22-23. The celebration is Friday and the alumni meeting will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Livingstone College School of Culinary Art and Hospitality Center. Salisbury Symphony Summer Strings Camp

Students ages 8 to adult of all ability levels are invited to participate in the Summer Strings Camp, June 25-29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Salisbury.  Auditions are not required; cost is $100 per camper. South Carolina Ceramic Association’s 50th annual competition

South Carolina Ceramic Association held their 50th annual Ceramic competition this weekend (June 8 & 9th.) First time showing in the Hobbyist category Linda Whitehouse won her first Jasmine award (the highest in this division) with her hand painted tea kettle spoon rest. Her bowl with a bunny also won a second. Marilyn Colvin an Advanced Hobbyist won a first with her Persian cat planter. Tricia Hardy co-owner of Mad Ceramics won her 6th “Masters” & the Colors for Earth Award with her 15” plate with multiple portraits of her husband & self from.the time they were 1 & 2 years old to present day. (The theme of this years competition was “Then & Now” celebrating this organization’s 50th anniversary.
​A Christmas cookie jar that was a sample for a class taught at the Ellis Park rec center took a second along with a “Frog Parking only” piece.
