Ever wonder why the Kannapolis Intimidators stadium is on the Rowan/Cabarrus County line?

CHINA GROVE — Find out on Saturday as the Rowan Museum opens the new exhibit “Batter Up, A Salute to Southern Rowan Baseball,” on June 16 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

This special exhibit will feature artifacts from the years of Southern Rowan Baseball. There is a rich history of baseball from Little League to Minor and Major League Teams in the Southern Rowan area.

Special baseball musical entertainment on the porch will also highlight the day. Photos and artifacts from the early 1900s to present day will be on display and the museum needs your help identifying the players, the teams, and for you to share your stories of playing America’s favorite game.

Hot dogs, popcorn and drinks will be available for purchase for $1. The China Grove Roller Mill will also be open for tours. The opening of the exhibit also coincides with CruiseIn the Grove, a classic car show on Main Street in China Grove, in front of the Roller Mill.

Admission is $3 for adults and $1 for students. Proceeds from this event will help provide operating expenses and maintenance for the historic China Grove Roller Mill.

The Mill is operated by the Rowan Museum which holds specials events throughout the year, gives public and private tours of the Mill, and sponsors the Farmers Market in the spring and summer. The agricultural museum is also used by groups and individuals for receptions, parties, seminars and other special events.

The mill is located at 308 North Main St. in China Grove. www.visitsalisburync.com/listing/china-grove-roller-mill/254/
