MOUNT ULLA – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors have closed the N.C. 150 bridge between Fannie Sloan Lane and Millbridge Road as well as the Bradshaw Road bridge that crosses Kerr Creek for replacement.

The two bridges in western Rowan County have aged out, the DOT said.

N.C. 150 was closed Thursday near the Millbridge community. Work is expected to be complete by Nov. 9.

Local traffic will use Sloan Road to detour around the work. Because of load restrictions, truck traffic must use N.C. 801 and Sherrills Ford Road to get around the closure.

The Bradshaw Road bridge, which crosses Kerr Creek between Millbridge and Mooresville roads, will close Monday.

Built in 1960, the aging bridge no longer meets the needs of travelers, DOT said.

Bradshaw Road will be closed starting at 7 a.m. Monday. Work is expected to be complete by Oct. 23.

Local traffic will be able to access homes from either end of the closure but will not be able to pass beyond it on either side of the work area. Drivers will use Corrier Grange Road, Corrier Springs Road and Millbridge Road as the detour.

Motorists should watch signs for construction information in both zones and obey the posted speed limit.
