The N.C. Department of Transportation is proposing to build a road from Jake Alexander Boulevard near Brenner Avenue to the intersection of Cedar Springs Road, U.S. 29, and Peeler Road in Salisbury.

A public meeting will be held at Salisbury Civic Center, 315 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday to provide information on the project.

The proposed Airport Parkway includes building a two-lane roadway in the vicinity of Mid-Carolina Regional Airport.

Accommodations for pedestrians, bicycles and transit are being evaluated as part of the project, according to DOT.

The purpose of the meeting is to provide interested residents with information on the project and gather public input on the proposed design.

People may attend at any time between 4 and 7 p.m. There will not be a formal presentation, but DOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer questions and take comments.

Comments and information received will be taken into consideration as work on the project develops.

Written comments or questions can also be submitted at the meeting or later by June 26.

Project maps are available online at http://www.ncdot.gov/projects/publicmeetings/.
