Horses and Yoga workshop
From 9-11:30 a.m. Sunday, June 10, Yoga instructor Leilani Annand will lead an introductory level yoga class in the presence of the herd, followed by an opportunity to connect with the horses and explore how “adjusting” our energy can have a powerful effect. You will also have an opportunity to experience the healing nature of simply “being” with a horse.
Stacey Carter is a PATH certified instructor and equine specialist. You do not need to have a horse or previous experience to benefit from this workshop. Bring a mat, water and dress comfortably. No open toe shoes. $40.

Rowan Musuem sponsors ‘Batter Up!’ Exhibit on the history of baseball in South Rowan
Opening day: Saturday, June 16 at the China Grove Roller Mill, 308 Main St., China Grove.

Rowan Museum will remember and honor those baseball players and teams that date back from the 1920s to the present. Baseball was an important part of the history of the Southern Rowan area. Many players that started out playing ball on a neighborhood team went on to the Major Leagues.
We have a collection of pictures, news articles, books, uniforms, balls, bats, gloves, and even an area designed to look like a ball field.
From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on opening day, June 16, come enjoy traditional hot dogs, popcorn and sodas throughout the day along with specially planned baseball musical entertainment.
The exhibit will remain at the mill until the Christmas season.
The China Grove Roller Mill is operated as an agricultural museum. In addition to the original mill equipment, there are artifacts dating back to the 1800s on display.
The Roller Mill is owned and operated by the Rowan Museum. The Mill, located at 308 N. Main Street, is on the National Register of Historic Sites.

Ricky Skaggs, Sharon White, Gibson Brothers at the Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival
Mouth of Wilson, Va. — Ricky Skaggs and Sharon White headline the 24th annual Wayne C. Henderson Music Festival and Guitar Competition, a family-friendly event on Saturday, June 16, at Grayson Highlands State Park.
Also performing will be the Gibson Brothers, Rachel Eddy, Richard Smith, the Jane Kramer Band, and Wayne Henderson and Friends.
Twenty contestants will play to have the chance to win a handmade Henderson guitar, and scholarships will be presented to young musicians studying Appalachian music. The festival will present more than $38,900 this year, and has presented more than $237,950 in scholarships since 1995.
Performances run from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Bring a chair or blanket. Concessions will be available, picnic lunches are welcome. A children’s area will feature free events including lariat artist Doug Smith and his rope tricks, along with crafts and games.
Admission is $20, and children 12 and younger get in free.
