CHINA GROVE — “Wild Bill” Corriher presented scholarships to three South Rowan High School JROTC students on May 25.
Over the years, the $1,000 scholarships have made it possible for numerous local students to pursue higher education. Scholarships are made possible through community donations and are presented by Corriher.
In one photo, Wild Bill holds a thank-you letter from student Devin Gay, a 2018 recipient of the scholarship. The note reads:
Mr. ‘Wild Bill’ Corrhier,
I would like to express to you just how grateful I am for the scholarship that you have presented to me. It is my esteemed pleasure and honor to be the recipient of your $1,000 scholarship. This money will go a long way towards my college expenses and furthering my education.
I also greatly appreciate your support and faith in not only me but the entire South Rowan JROTC Battalion as well. Your dedication to us inspires myself and all of our cadets to strive for excellence. In a world of mediocrity, you show us that we must endeavor to be great. Your impact and service to us is a shining example for our battalion.
It is my honor to receive this scholarship from you and continue to represent everything that you stand for as I continue my life. Thank you, sir, for everything.
Respectfully,
Devin Gay.
