The N.C. Department of Transportation has scheduled a rolling roadblock on Interstate 85 South in Cabarrus County starting at 10 a.m. Thursday, weather permitting.

The closure is necessary to inspect the bridge carrying Lane Street over the interstate after an over-height drilling rig hit the bridge Tuesday afternoon.

The rolling roadblock will start near the N.C. 152 interchange, continuing south to Lane Street.

The inspection should take about 15 minutes. If more time is needed, crews will let traffic resume before making a second inspection.
