Partners in Learning to hold graduation

Partners in Learning will be graduating 65 children from its preschool program on June 7 in the auditorium of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s North Campus.

Children enrolled in the preschool program have learned foundational skills to help prepare them for success in kindergarten. Partners In Learning focuses on teaching social emotional regulation, problem solving skills, independence, handwriting skills, early literacy skills, forming positive relationships, empathy and other language and social skills necessary for academic success. As classes graduate the teachers are preparing for the next chapter of eager minds for the 2018-19 school year. East Rowan High School chorus to host two shows

The East Rowan High School choral department will hold two different spring concerts this year.

The first will be May 29 at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium will include vocal music 1, vocal music 2 and honors vocal music classes. Approximately 140 students will come together for a great night of music.

The second will be May 31 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, and will feature the honors vocal group as well as the 2018 honors chorus graduates in solo performances. Both concerts will be directed by Dean Orbison, choral director and are free and open to the public.

Arts festival

Rowan-Salisbury Schools will hold an arts festival June 2. The event will celebrate art, music, drama and fun from students across the district on Saturday, June 2 at East Rowan High School. The event is free and open to the public, and will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Summer care

The Salisbury Rowan Community Action Agency has summer care available for local parents. Care is available for students who are ages 4 to 5, Monday through Friday at the Price Head Start Center in Salisbury. For more information please call 704-216-0164.

Achievement in Motion camp

Crosby Scholars of Rowan County in conjunction with AIM is hosting a summer camp for rising sophomores. The camp will run June 20-22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Rowan-Cabarrus Community College’s North Campus. Lunch is provided. Space is limited, so registration is required. Donald Gray acting summer camp

The West Rowan Neighborhood Center Advisory Council and the R. A. Clement Alumni Association will sponsor a Donald Gray Acting Camp for children and youth, ages 9-16, this summer, June 11-15.

The camp will meet from  8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the West Rowan Neighborhood Center — formerly known as the R. A. Clement Rosenwald School’s old building, 216  Krider Street in Cleveland.

The cost to participants will be $35, and will include breakfast and lunch daily. Registration begins on Wednesday, May 30, 1-4 p.m. at the West Rowan Neighborhood Center, and will continue on June 5 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and June 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This camp will provide a opportunity for local youths to work with and learn from internationally known actor and Cleveland native Donald Gray.

Churches and Organizations and individuals in the are community  are supporting  the camp by  providing scholarships for needy students to participate in this life changing experience.
