Community Job Fair set May 23

SALISBURY — About 50 employers are expected to participate in a Community Job Fair that local agencies will present from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 23.

The job fair will be held at First Ministry Center, 220 N. Fulton St.

Employers represented will include Gildan, the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center, Aerotek, Avgol of Mocksville, Bayada, Bradley Personnel, Carolina Beverage Group, Carowinds, city of Salisbury, Comfort Keepers, Decision Path, Delhaize (Food Lion), FHI Freight Handlers, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, Goodwill, Gordon Food Services, Granges, Halyard, Hire Dynamics, Home Instead, JC Penney, ManCan, N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, Novant Health, Pactiv, Pratt Industries, Rowan-Salisbury Schools, R.W. Bost (Quality Distributors), S&H Youth and Adult Services, Schneider, Southeastern Packaging, TenderHearted Home Care, Trinity at Home, U.S. Postal Service and WestRock.

To help job seekers prepare, an employment information session will be offered at 2 p.m. Monday at the NCWorks Career Center Rowan, 1904 S. Main St.

The session is offered by Jobs for Life and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. Participants will receive an early pass to enter the job fair before it opens to the public. Military veterans will also receive early entry at 9:30 a.m.

The job fair is open to all. Organizers recommend that job seekers dress appropriately and bring copies of their resume. A professional photographer will be on hand to provide a free “head shot” for job seekers’ use in their job search.

Partners presenting the job fair include the city of Salisbury, NCWorks Career Center-Rowan, Livingstone College, Catawba College, Rowan-Cabarrus Community College, Rowan-Salisbury Schools, Jobs for Life, Better Jobs for Better Lives Rowan County, Rowan Chamber of Commerce, Rowan Economic Development Commission, U.S. Army, and Centralina Workforce Development Board.
