Rowan weather: Days of showers and storms ahead

The weather for the rest of the week includes showers and storms every day. Some of those storms, starting this afternoon, could be strong, with frequent lightning, gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall.
Thursday’s storms could bring heavy rain, leading to a possibility of flash floods, especially in areas that had rain on Tuesday or Wednesday.
The chance of showers and storms today is 20 percent, with mostly cloudy skies and a high of 83. Winds will be from the south southwest at 7-9 mph.
Tonight, the chance of showers goes up to 40 percent, with cloudy skies and a low of 66. South wind will be at 3-5 mph. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible. Fog will form around 4 a.m.
Wednesday has a 70 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, and starts out with patchy fog, lingering until 10 a.m. It will be cloudy and 80, with south wind around 5 mph. A quarter to half inch of rain is expected.
The chance of rain for Wednesday night is 60 percent, with a low of 66 again. South wind will be around 6 mph. Another quarter to half inch of rain is possible.
Thursday has a 90 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, some heavy. The high will be 79, with south southeast wind at 5-7 mph. The chance of rain is 80 percent Thursday night, with another low around 66.
Friday also has a 80 percent chance of showers and storms. The high will be 79. Friday night’s chance of rain will be 70 percent, with a low of 67.
Saturday, the day of the Cheerwine Festival, will have a 60 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially after 11 a.m. It will be cloudy and 81. The chance of rain Saturday night is 50 percent, with a low of 67 and more storms possible.
Sunday has a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with a high of 83 under mostly cloudy skies. The chance of rain drops to 30 percent Sunday night, with a low of 66.
But then the chance of storms and showers goes up Monday to 60 percent. It will be mostly cloudy and 83.
