The annual Rowan County Peace Officers Memorial Service will be held at noon Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 308 W. Fisher St.

The service is an opportunity to honor officers who died in the line of duty from across the county and beyond. A lunch will follow the ceremony.

The ceremony will include placing a wreath with blue carnations and white and red roses.

The carnations are in memory of officers. White roses honor those who continue to serve, and red roses are in memory of officers who died in the line of duty since 1909.

Red roses also are in memory of officers in North Carolina who have died since May 2017.

The ceremony will also include music and a scripture lesson.
