Letter: Poor & wages

In response to comments on my views on poverty in Talkback:
Jobs exist to employ people to make or build something, do something or fix something. I guess I need updating. So please update me. What is your idea of the job market?
The N.C. Budget and Tax Center stated that a boost in the minimum wage will help those living in poverty. How will this help those living in poverty with no job?
Since there is no “public transportation” for those living in these poverty areas, why would public transportation send buses in areas where no one needs a ride?
“Policy choices” have been so discriminatory toward these people living in poverty; so tell us which “policy choices” are the ones causing this poverty?
The initial requirement for liberalism is to be a victim and these people living in poverty whose numbers have doubled in the last eight to 10 years would certainly qualify. Which of Obama’s polices would you say have caused a doubling in poverty as well as doubling the national debt?
Remember all this increase in poverty found by N.C. Budget and Tax Center has occurred on the Democratic watch. President Johnson’s war on poverty hasn’t changes much over the years and neither is the need not to be a victim.
By the way, I was 87 last January and my interest in all of this is to find the truth — not being politically correct or in unbridled and undiluted liberalism.
